    Default Alkaline Water Ionizers

Does anyone here own or know of someone in the area that has an alkaline water ionizer?

It's absolutely 100% psuedoscientific garbage. Do not waste your money on it. I don't want to see anyone on PS get taken in by that nonsense.

This link pretty much sums up how it's bunk: Skeptoid article on Kangen Water and water ionizers.

Wow that's one of the most closed minded things I've heard lately
It just so happens I've been using the water for awhile, and it's been doing great by the way,but I'm tired of traveling so far to get it.

I'm not closed minded - it's that the science doesn't add up. Atoms cannot do things that they cannot do.

I don't know what you're expecting alkaline water to do for you. I don't know your situation and cannot comment on it without more details, but I'm sorry to say but you are wasting your money. Humans have lived and evolved a very precise way of managing our PH. You do not need to supply hydroxyl ions your body is more than capable of balancing its own PH.

You can call me closed-minded, but would you call someone telling you that the clear-coat that car dealers try to sell you is a waste of money closed-minded? That's the same thing here man, just warning you not to waste your money.

So you can sit back and pontificate on something you've never actually tried?

I've tried many things over the years and this is one that does stand out,I don't know why but I really notice a difference in my health. And I'm not solicited at all,it's my personal experience.

And I'm not wasting any money,I get the water from a machine that someone else owns. However due to the results I've been getting I would like to have my own eventually. In the meantime I've been researching the best prices I can.

There's alway enough people around that believe anything printed. No need to be that guy. Let the loons think the magic water is working for them.

It's a crutch, like any other "mircale cure"

Heck, they even tricked al the baseball players into wearing magnetic necklaces.

"Developed in Japan, the nylon-coated titanium necklaces are intended to promote pain relief and enhance performance through improved circulation and stress reduction. "

    hahahah..

I'm not seeing all these supposed bikes in all these million dollar bike lanes.

Sure. I've never done heroin but I can pontificate on that too. Not that I'm comparing the two either.

I've tried many things over the years and this is one that does stand out,I don't know why but I really notice a difference in my health. And I'm not solicited at all,it's my personal experience.
And us humans are fallible and overestimate the things a lot, especially in regards to our own health. Like I said I don't know what was ailing you beforehand but I can tell you that we've managed to exist 250,000 + years with internal pH balancing mechanisms I don't know why you need alkaline water to do that. Why not just take baking soda? It's an alkaline. I've used that to kill bad stomach acid (usually after a night of hot wings and/or copious amounts of alcohol). Or lye? That's alkaline too (please don't eat lye).

I'm sure the water won't harm you but it will harm your wallet if you buy one yourself. I think the placebo effect is at work.

@ desolate: those power balance necklaces are hilarious, I've taught myself how to reproduce the balance test so it works with anything, like a apple, or a stuffed animal, or a dildo.

Right, ignorance. I'm trying to inform you, not insult you. If anything I've displayed quite a bit of knowledge on the subject of pH.

I understand you've sold yourself on these devices. What do you think I'm trying to do? I'm trying to make sure you're not ripped off. I have no agenda, I'm not selling you anything...what gives man?

Like I said, ignorance. I post a sincere INQUIRY,not sale, for people in the area that happen to have a machine and I'm pegged as a spammer^ Paranoid much?

    It's just the slightly condescending tone I'm getting from people here yet no answer to my original question that might lead me to my opinion;

Where's the ignorance in my posts chief? Come on and expose my ignorance already. I want you to demonstrate how I'm wrong. Otherwise you're just ignoring my points. I'm not giving you a condescending tone. Ignore them, debate me. If I'm wrong show me. I'm just looking out for your wallet here, no more, no less.

Not that youd be able to see it yourself if I exposed it but it's a start:

"It's absolutely 100% psuedoscientific garbage. Do not waste your money on it. I don't want to see anyone on PS get taken in by that nonsense.

This link pretty much sums up how it's bunk: Skeptoid article on Kangen Water and water ionizers."

Anyone can hit up Google and talk about the first thing they see,but until you've tried it and can say it did nothing for you personally your credibility to me is limited.

Okay, until you've shot a man don't knock it. You might enjoy murder! Don't throw that fallacious argument at me.

And it wasn't some google search, I subscribe to the skeptoid podcast. He goes in depth into the science behind it. I'm guessing you didn't read it. I'm still waiting for you to actually tell me how this is supposed to improve your health, but you aren't.

Here's a more in depth article:

You're partially correct,I don't have time to get dragged into some go nowhere debate by people who like to hang out on forums all day. And I'm also not going to get roped into posting any links that may be construed as selling thus getting me flagged here. Since you seem to already be online and good at research may I suggest doing some research yourself on the other side of the argument, there's plenty of info on both sides. I just happen to have some firsthand experience.

Right, and I happen to have firsthand knowledge of how chemistry works (like, what exactly an ion is and what exactly alkalinity means). Your body removes excess acid through breathing. Pure water cannot be alkaline because you need something like sodium or calcium to make it ionized. We've already evolved a highly sophisticated acid-base balance system over the last 250k+ years. You're defending a product made by people who know they're frauds and are laughing all the way to the bank. Topic over.

Topic over for you maybe. Like I said go look at the testimonials and talk to me later. Like I said I'm aware of that 'scientific' stuff but I still maintain whatever those machines do is making me feel alot better than I was and that's all the proof I need. Lastly you must have missed it but I stated that no one sold me anything and I've not spent any money on anything.

I don't care what testimonials say, the things these guys claim is in contradiction with the function of the human body.

I'm sure it makes you feel better. The placebo is strong in this one.
