Default Where to find tai chi classes?

Does anyone here practice tai chi? If so, where do you go? I've never tried it before and am looking for a beginner-friendly environment. The only place I can find that has a class on their schedule online is Shanti Yoga Shala on N. 3rd St. There's also a place in the NE, but I can't make it up there after work. Thanks!

I've seen people doing what I thought was Tai Chi in a park near me. They were actual Chinese though, and all spoke the language. That said, you might want to see if there's a group in Clark Park, I don't know how'd you go about finding that out. Is there like a Park bulleting board or forum? Maybe ask in U. City subforum of this board, since a lot of people on the neighborhood boards don't check out the health and fitness section.

Thanks Marty. I'm actually looking for a class, as I'm afraid if I tried to join up with a bunch of long-time practitioners I'd be totally lost. I may just end up at the studio on N. 3rd.

If there is a meet up group in the park, I'd approach them and ask about joining. Tai Chi isn't (usually) a contact martial art where advanced students would be worried about hurting you, nor is it Yoga where many people think students should be separated by "skill" level. You're going to learn it by following along, whether it's in "formal" gym setting or an outdoor meetup.

    Good luck.

Here is a place in Roxborough at Ridge and Manayunk-- a couple of blocks from the Main St 6 movie theater in Manayunk.
