A defendant in a courtroom in Dachau near Munich has shot dead a state prosecutor. The man was accused of failing to pay money he owed the social security system on behalf of his employees.

The regional police headquarters reported that around 4 p.m. as the judge was reading the sentence, the 54-year-old defendant suddenly pulled out a gun and shot around around the courtroom. He then shot at the judge and fired three shots directly at the 31-year-old prosecutor before judicial officers overpowered him.
