No trash or recycling on Monday, according to Philly311 on twitter. City government offices closed too.

There was just a phone recording from PPL (I'm in the burbs) telling customers to expect power outages lasting for up to a week, possibly longer, in this "unprecedented" storm, and to expect severe damage.

I work at four local universities, and two, Drexel and Penn, have notified me that campuses are closed Monday and Tuesday. Also at Penn, classes I was scheduled for on Wednesday are cancelled.

So many records are going to be broken the next day or so....

Blizzard warning up for western Maryland / northern West Virginia. 8+ inches of heavy snow in high winds expected for that area.

Is this the first Blizzard Hurricane?

Sandy is now the largest tropical cyclone on record at 520 nautical miles.

Here is An Awesome Photo of Sandy, Now the Largest Tropical Cyclone on Record, Covering the Northeast

One notable difference between Sandy and Hurricane Irene, the most recent comparable storm, is that Sandy will post a much bigger risk to those at the "skyscraper level." So, if you know anyone who lives in an penthouse, invite them over. And if you see Donald Trump falling from the sky, move out of the way.

What is the legitimate likelihood of power going out in center city? It seems like most of the power lines are buried, which would seem to work in our favor.

I went out to the market late afternoon for some important staples such as in the bulk candy aisle and noticed in the equally pertinent snack aisle that the large bags of Herr's Cheese Curls have a 3 day rating as a flotation device in the open sea so I bought extra.

Does it warrant a Bolaris warning alert?

My office is telling everyone to stay home until at least Wednesday. They aren't usually this cautious.

I was worried about that too. I took down my decorations and put the trashcans in the covered alley. My biggest fear at this point is loss of electricity. I don't do well as a pioneer woman.

None of us do, we are the gadget era not the fire era..IT looks like Baltimore may get the brunt of the rain:

6 TO 10 INCHES OF RAIN JUST WEST OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY INCLUDING THE BALTIMORE METROPOLITAN AREA.

Good, unlike Irene, the wind isn't tap up in the sky and once it interacts with the other storm it will really come down from above...
