Default How could a people's revolution against the ppa be done?

And would this bring down the Republican Party machine.... Thus restoring 2 party democracy to Philadelphia?

"Phila government" has nothing to do with the PPA. It is controlled by Harrisburg.

Well the local GOP and patronage jobs plays a big role right?

As I understand, the ppa is a haven of patronage jobs to keep the phila GOP in line. How long can this continue? Not forever, what do you think is the best way to bring it all down?

This seems like an attractive way to revolt because everyone already hates the ppa

It's an easy sell... As opposed to some complicated spiel about the history of the local GOP and how it's ineffective by design

    You first.

Abolish the PPA in your neighborhood.

Washington Square would become a complete sh*tshow of cars parked for years, parking on sidewalks and RVs gathered around the eternal flame.

Did the moon tree die yet? It was looking pretty ill about a year ago.

While the PPA has many issues, I don't think they are the cause of the lopsided political climate or quality of life issues in Philadelphia.

    It makes sense to me

The phila GOP is neutered on purpose because they settle for ppa patronage jobs instead of building a real competition. This allows the democratic machine to do more or less whatever it wants.... Which results in qol issues that affect us all

    Well no, not seriously.

The honorable Mr Goodman likes to create fluffy threads and see how long they can be fanned.

I believe the next threads will be:

Should all dogs be banned from Philadelphia

    or

Can we rename Center City, Broad Center Square

C'mon give me some credit. The Republican Party losing on purpose is a BIG deal... Totally goes against the principles of democracy

The ppa is their bread and butter I believe... So if their meal ticket is taken away so is their small amount of power. This could allow upstarts like featherman or whoever to take control of the party and build a real competition to the democratic machine

'Booka!' Controversial Council staffer throws down in Germantown club

^ stories like this make me sick to my stomach and nothing will change until there is an opposition to hold these pigs accountable

    1) What is your explanation then for the state of affairs before PPA control?

    2) You see a problem with the Democrats and your solution is to focus on the Republicans?

    Is it that far off

When the other party isn't trying, of course the dominant party will do what it pleases

They all suck, I think the republicans would be easier to take down considering there are less of them. Targeting their prize pig (ppa) may be the way to do it

I think we all want the same thing, fair transparent government... I'm just throwing out ideas on how to possibly get there

    can you explain further?

I know you're an r in town so maybe you have some insight. Is the Republican Party establishment trying to win elections? If yes, are you sure? If no, why?

The problem is you view Democrats as one group of people and Republicans as one group of people. You also are implying the local GOP was bought off to not be competitive by getting the PPA when the reverse was true.

the other problem is instead of blaming the actual elected officials who are doing bad policy, you want to blame the local party that has almost no influence on policy.

Have you looked at the numbers of registered voters, R vs D?? Abe Lincoln would be hard pressed to win an election in Philly.
