    Default Parking in my street

I applied to the PPA three months ago for a handicapped spot in front of my house for my husband. PGW came out today to mark where the gas main is because the PPA is coming tomorrow to put the signs up. I explained to the PGW guy that he didn't to mark anything because my husband passed away five weeks ago and that I didn't need the handicapped spot. He ARGUED with me "That I might as well take it since you have the tags and parking is so tight". I explained to him that I didn't want to abuse the system and he argued that the guys from hte PPA were probably going to tell me the same thing tomorrow. He proceeded to mark the gas main. I remember how much trouble my husband had walking when he was sick and I know that others in my street may be in need of a handicapped spot if there illnesses worsen. I found the whole incident very upsetting. People are azzholes. Now I have to sit here tomorrow to wait for the PPA and explain to them that I don't want or need a handicapped parking spot. UGH

This is a terrible situation on many levels. But even if you don't need it, maybe if there isn't already a dedicated HP spot on your block, others could find it useful?

There is one half a block down which is used by one neighbor. Parking is actually really good in our street. We were having problems a few months ago because they were digging up the little street behind us. The people from that street were parking in our street. I just looked outside and I can see nine parking spots (not including the handicapped one). My neighbors and I have been vigilant about reporting abandoned vehicles to 311. I can't think of anyone else who would legitimately need a handicapped spot and I know my neighbors well.

Well, good luck getting it sorted out. Sorry for your loss.

First, sorry for your lost. Sadly you couldn't call them to cancel all of that and you had to deal with the low rung employees who are only doing their job. But I'm sure you can call someone to get it taken away...
