Changing skyline lights?

Can anyone tell me why the skyline lights change? I know in other cities it signifys a particular sports team won or lost, or sometimes represents specific months (i.e. pink is for breast cancer awareness month). I noticed they changed to orange this month and I'm very curious why!

Okay, okay. I'm feeling a bit ridiculous. (I definitely don't follow hockey at all). So what's up with the other colors (other than orange)? Just random?

Yeah, for the most part, it is random, except when its a special event(Mother's Day, Breast Cancer Month October) or something happen in the city(Fallen Police Officer/Firefighter).
