    Default Mosquito Trap

Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with mosquito traps that they would like to share? We would like to actually use our backyard this year. I'm looking for a non-electric (propane) instrument. Thanks in advance ...

I think we have enough CO2 emissions as it is without leaving propane tanks to burn off all summer. It would probably be more effective to just be vigilant about standing water anywhere near your property.

Yeah, good luck with that. Typical mosquitoes will travel 1-2 miles for a meal.

That said, the only help I can suggest is wear bug spray. Mosquito traps don't work singularly. They must be deployed in arrays, upwind from any breeding grounds in range and baited properly for the breed of mosquito you want to trap. They will also draw more mosquitoes to you. They can help somewhat if you have a large suburban yard and locate it well away from the area you want to protect. Citronella torches will help, a little.

I read somewhere that there's a new mosquito repellant coming out one of these days that's 1000x more effective than DEET. Where it is I don't know, but I heard about it!

They don't work. But if you want to try for yourself, I have one sitting in my backyard that I'm happy to get rid of ... no charge. Just pick it up.

    Yes, I'm serious.
