The RecycleBank Program where I live outside the city is alive and well. I always receive my monthly account activity emails whether I have logged in to my account or not (I rarely do, maybe twice or three times a year at this point) and have recently donated 4,500 points to the Philly schools who are participating in RecycleBank's green school's initiative. I typically in the past would have donated those points to animal rescues or to some kind of animal fund, but for the past two years I hadn't seen those kinds of rewards/donations listed. That is why I had such an accumulation of points. I kept waiting and waiting for what I wanted. Wish those donated points to the schools equated to higher money amounts. I think 500 points was only $2.50 or something like that, and at the time, it was stated that a school could only receive up to 500 points per account. I thought I was going to be able to donate all those points to one particular school; instead I had to spread out those 4,500 points. There are only a few rewards that I will choose for myself: $5 off supermarket coupon and $10 off a $30 purchase at Bed, Bath & Beyond (these apparently are limited). I have oftentimes cashed in points for rewards at local businesses and not ever used the rewards because I thought I would go to those places but never did, or I simply forgot about them even though I put them in my pocketbook as soon as they come in the mail.
Yes - I still get my weekly emails.
Recyclebank did something with their website around Feb 2010 and your account may have gotten missed in the transfer. Their CS number is
888-727-2978 but my neighbor had success contacting them via their Twitter about it.
The 500 point maximum for the Green Schools program was an error. Point donations are now unlimited.
