I've been back many times. It's really a great spot with great drinks, and it's perfect for either your end of the night, or as a pregame to your other activities. I like to go there before I go to a club or some other establishment because in reality it's such a better deal. At most clubs I pay $7 for a cup of ice with some watered down gin and too much tonic. For $3 more you get some of the best cocktails you can buy in the city, and they're strong. I actually find myself spending LESS money overall if I go to Hop Sing first than I do if I go right to whatever my final destination is. It's hard to beat that really. I know he's going to raise the prices of the cocktails by another $2 sometime this fall, but even at that price point it's reasonable.

I think the dress code is very reasonable. The most strict aspect of the dress code is basically no shorts or sneakers, which I honestly think is appropriate for a higher end venue. I wouldn't walk into Le Bec Fin in shorts and sneakers, so I don't know why that would be unreasonable for a cocktail bar.

Actually one of my favorite aspects at this point is that so many people are too cool for Hop Sing, especially some hipsters and the existing cocktail bar crowds. If you look at comments on the web they say stupid stuff like "it's not authentic enough, it's too designed. Consultants are bad." I just have to laugh. That's like saying you won't go to the Art Museum because it was meticulously designed by an architect and that makes it not authentic. People who would pass up some of the best drinks in the city at some of the best prices, in one of the coolest atmospheres the city has are just silly. So many of the established cocktail bar crowd is upset because Lee didn't kiss their asses the entire time he's been planning this.
