    Default Best Center City sushi?

Usually we drive over the bridge to Sagami, but I feel like walking through CC tonight. Sushi Planet on 3rd and Bainbridge is nearby, but I'm looking for someplace we haven't been. It's my birthday dinner; last year we went to Kanella and that was the plan again (or Zahav) but we're both still stuffed from our annual barbecue yesterday so want to stick with sushi - less temptation to try new stuff, less cooking/oil/etc involved.

I hear good things about Momji. We don't like Hikaru. Other suggestions?

Pricey (some might say over-priced), but IME Morimoto is good for a special event.

I always liked Shiroi Hana and Fat Tuna. Haru is pretty good too.

FYI - Shiroi Hana has a good appetizer w/ squid sake and teriyaki

Haru has closed so you'll have to hit NYC for a fix from them. Quite sad about that as Haru had a very quick and precise delivery.

    Zama's. 128 S. 19th. Zama Restaurant : Home

He was head Sushi chef at Morimoto, Genji, Shiroi Hana, Ritz Carlton and Pod, now has his own place, it's great! Very unique and original concoctions.

For sushi in CC I've only tried Morimoto and Raw.

If you're looking mainly for makis (rolls), I would go to RAW.

If you're looking for something else beyond rolls, try Morimoto.

EDIT: NVM, just noticed it's a thread from last year.

Zama!!!! Though it is very pricey.

Is it better for dinner? Went recently for lunch and was underwhelmed given the price. $18 sushi combo came with a lot of stuff but not much fish and ingredient quality all around was low.

Well I haven't eaten there for lunch and it has been a year since I went, but I did find it to be very good at the time. I did go with the fancy special rolls and I thought they were good. It is the best I have had in the city so far.

I do have a friend who is a big sushi snob and he claims raw is the best.

Our go to place for both dine-in and take-out is Fat Salmon on 7th and Walnut. It used to be Shinju when it was in a smaller location. I think its very reasonably priced and very fresh. I haven't been to many of the other recommendd places.

My buddy swears by this place. I'll have to check it out when I'm in town.
