SPOT Gourmet Burgers, Steaks, & Pork - Food/Grocery - Philadelphia, PA | Facebook
I've seen them on Front & Girard and 33rd & Walnut and near Race St Pier.
33rd and arch is their normal setup though this week they may be elsewhere since it's Drexel break week.
So I finally made it to this place, after not wanting to wait in line for a veggie burger. It was a fine day to be out and about for lunch today, so I made the walk.
-There was only a short line, not out the door like it used to be when they first opened.
-The order was quick, but it took almost 10 mins for them to buzz me to say the food was ready. So it was still a wait for essentially fast food...and there are other fast food options in this town.
-I ordered the 'Shroom Burger (the only vegetarian choice), crinkle fries, and the Fair Shake. Total came to more than $15. Are you kidding me? This sh(t better be filling and taste good.
So, the food itself:
- 'shroom burger is a portobello filled with melted cheese (combo of muenster and cheddar...two bland cheeses) and crispified, a "ShackSauce" that is also mostly tasteless and looks like 1000 island dressing, and dressed with two slices of tomatoes and a leaf of lettuce. The best part of this burger were the two juicy red slices of tomatoes that seemed like they were locally grown/organic and had some flavor. The rest of the sandwich... quite disappointing, to be honest. The bun is mushy and tasteless, and Philly is home to so much good bread, I think I can't accept wonderbread mush anymore. The portion size was small, and I'd have been a bit hungry were it not for the order of fries...
- crinkle fries were okay. a big heap, for sure.
- the Fair Shake was also okay, nothing great. Potbelly Sandwich Works makes that style of shake and the two are comparable in quality/taste and size, except for the price...
- The price... this meal was priced as if I were living in NYC. Simply not worth it. For $15.xx, there are much better meals to be had in Philadelphia-- from locally owned businesses to boot.
Rittenhouse area seems increasingly filled with lame, overhyped, overpriced joints, some with pretty douchy service to boot. I'm looking at this place, Serafina (another NYC name, no wonder!), but also HipCityVeg... (not douchy, but fairly tasteless and pricey for what it is).

Stopped by about a month ago - wife was humoring me. She had the shroom burger and hated it. I had the Shake Shack burger with fries. Ok, but just ok.
It's a funny combination of high price and lackluster food. Definitely tempted to pay more at Good Dog or less at McD's. Too bad, because it's so close to home.
Yes, the Dos Equis guy is Jewish, but the most interesting Spanish-accented characters that turned out to have Jewish actors behind them are Hector Salamanca and Don Eladio (Manny in Scarface) in Breaking Bad, IMO. ;-)

Whoops, you somehow overlooked Eli Wallach's nuanced and sensitive portrayal of Tuco "The Ugly" Ramirez. I'll just put that at the top of the list.
My friend with Celiac's disease went to the ol shack and asked for the "gluten-free" option they proudly listed on their menu. He got the regular burger, minus the buns. Grayte! Even better, it was still full price. Koool!
