I personally enjoy Hosteria Da Elio on 3rd and South. It's a nice little BYO with great service and food. The owner is from outside Rome, so I guess you can classify it as authentic Italian.

I thought Radicchio around 4th and Vine was very good. I haven't been there in about 2 years though

James is pricey but delicious. Saw in the paper that they are looking for a new location. I think the food is wonderful there.

Albania is only a stones through from Italy. It practically touches Itay's heel.
She is actually from Croatia and her family fled the communists and settled in Italy before coming to the US.

It was an Italian province at one time, so I doubt she considers herself Croatian.

Not 100% sure but I think she is ethnically Italian despite being born in Croatia.

I agree with you guys. She's not Albanian as incorrectly noted was my point. She was technically born in Croatia before moving to what we consider mainland Italy and then the US. I think its fair to say ethnic boundaries are somewhat blurry especially in that area of the world at that time. I have no idea what she considers herself, Italian, Croatian, its her call.

L'Oca in the Fairmount section (Fairmount and Corinthian, I think) is great. They have some outdoor seating in the warmer months, too. BYOB

I love Lattanzi! It's my local restaurant. I go their when I am entertaining friends and clients. I work in sales and need a restaurant which is going to be consistently great each time I go there. Lattanzi does the job! I love the little bar in the back of their restaurant. I usually start with an appetizer of sauteed artichokes ( i think it is their house specialty) and a cocktail. Then for dinner, I love to share a plate of homemade pasta (if dining with friends and family)and then something else, like veal scallopini marsala. Yummy! The service is great, and the price is reasonable.

La Veranda at Penn's Landing. BTW--it's gnocchi, not gnocci.
