Default Come vote for bike corrals at KFN and JB's

Greater Philadelphia Bicycle News: Johnny Brenda's and Kung Fu Necktie Need Community Support To Get Bike Corrals

Seems like the type of thing that shouldn't really require a vote, but this is Philadelphia, after all. If you'd like to see additional parking provided at these bike-magnet venues, come out tonight and next week to show your support. One car parking space will be removed and replaced with parking for 12 bikes, lowering the need to park on trees, street poles, people's fences, etc. High visibility bike facilities like this help send the message that the neighborhood is bike-friendly and might encourage return concert-goers to travel by bike in the future, reducing the number of cars that show up for big events. If you disagree with all of this, you can of course show up to cast a vote against, but I'd prefer if you didn't.

Yay bikes! Wish I lived there so I could cast my vote in the affirmative. Good luck!

Don't really need to take away a parking space at KFN, plenty of sidewalk space around there.

The Bike Corral passed in vote 37-7. An additional vote was for people who lived withing 500 feet of the bike corral and the vote for that group was 8-0 in favor.

Great! Can we expect more bike corrals in the city?

Very cool. I hope the corrals are placed in spots closest to the corner. As a driver, cyclist, and pedestrian I would definitely appreciate the better visibility at intersections that a low-lying bike corral offers over larger vehicles.

These corrals are part of a pilot program. There's a few being put out, distributed in different areas of the city that have a lot of bicycles. Depending on how well these work, there could be more in the future or they can get removed.
