Living there for 11 years, I remember most of this:
Northern Liberties Then & Now | Hidden City Philadelphia
Still I'm amaze how much it changed in just the past 5 years...I might post my own in here just to go down memory lane a bit...

Thanks for sharing that link. GREAT before and after photos! It is amazing the change that has happened and there will continue to be a lot of positive changes as well in terms of development and new businesses coming to the area. I love when people talk about the history. Have read a fantastic book from my friend Mary (long time NL resident) that really goes into the history of the neighborhood and has some teriffic photos too. Is nice to see the photo of the Rialto buiding and have seen some cool before photos where I live at 2nd and Poplar.

Great and fun link.
I happened to liver there in the 80's, and yes indeed it was the longest running up-and-coming neighborhood ever. After a while factories and buildings burnt down, rappaport died, cheap developers built quickies that collapsed, etc. and space opened up for new developments.
I had heard rumors Pinnacles food was in the 90's a porn movie studio?

Both pieces (Noel's and Nathaniel's) are great - and wise. Thanks for the link!

My Grandmother worked in a paperbox factory shown there. 925 N. Third Street. It was a blast to see it how it used to be when I would wait with my grandpa in the car to pick her up.
This would go good with the workshop of the world articles like this.Burk Bros. (leather) and thisOrtlieb Brewing oh and this. http://www.workshopoftheworld.com/no...s/schmidt.html
It all still looks like a ****ty bombed out shelter.
Do you need to be a NoLibs resident to see the difference between the "Now" and "Then" photos?
