The below is a depiction of the homicide stats in the City. The numbers are up every year over the last couple of years going back to 2009. In the chart, the City compares to 2007.

My question is when will the Mayor comment on the local homicides in public ? Why the "lack of focus" on crime ? He sure is commenting on everything from a national persepctive such as the soda tax in NYC, Romney speaking in front of the NAACP, stating the Trayvon Martin murder an assasination... Would simply like to see more focus at home in regards to the assasinations that are taking place in Philly, and specifically with Mike Hagan.

I'm with the somersteam. The mayor, the political establishment, the posters on this board are too nonchalant about the crime situation. Other cities got where they are by being pushy and demanding, not by being complacent. Why are we so quick to accept the lousy status quo?

Good point Sharkfood. The nonchalant is perhaps being numb to it. Just yesterday another homicide victim was found at 13th and Locust. We are averaging well over one homicide a day. I really think the Mayor and folks in City Council need to implement a "Safety First" policy.
