    Default Running Route from CC

I am looking to start running home from work (18th & Market) several times a week. I am trying to map out the safest route from center city to front and girard.. Does anyone have any guidance on the safest route? Is it sketchy if I take Spring Garden from 12th to front street?.. Is Callowhill better?

I would be running right around 6pm so it should still be daylight.

I've run from near 3rd and Girard to Boathouse row several times (not at that hour though) and I know someone who lives there who runs that route early in the mornings, and we both take Fairmount the whole way. Less traffic than Spring Garden but doesn't feel too isolated. Again I've only done it on Sunday mornings, but the person I know there does it around 6 am with no trouble.

Fairmount's an improvement over SG, but either way at that hour, the auto traffic is nasty. Would you consider going from Market down to Locust, and from there going up 3rd or 2nd? It would only add a half-mile to the trip, and it would be less sketchy, you wouldn't be choking down so much car exhaust, and it would be just more pleasant in general.

I take Arch St down to Third. Third to NoLibs then usually cut up 2nd St then through the Piazza. No problems.

That is a good route. My niece was in town the last couple of days and she ran from 2nd St in No Libs up to Chestnut and over to 18th and back. I would take either Chestnut or Arch and then make your way over like you did through either Callowhill or Race St. Is giving me inspiration!

Thanks everyone! Yes, that route did great for me. I haven't done it since but plan to one day this week. Get out there and do it - feels great afterwards!

Well, how about a scenic low traffic running jogging route?

South along Delaware Avenue, over the bridge to South Street,

    The taken from
    the-philly-cross-walk

    2nd/South at Head House
Walk down Stampers Alley, passing Blackwell Place.
    Take a Right on 3rd
    Left on Delancy
    Past Three Bears Park
Cross 4th into small alley to 5th

Slight Right on 5th to Delancy
    Delancy to 6th
    6th to Addison
    Right on Addison
    Addison to 8th
    Right on 8th

    8th to Pine
    Left on Pine
    Going past UPenn Hospital
Walk a short distance to next street past 9th
    Turn Left to Weaverly

    Weaverly to 13th
    Passing the Weaverly Community Garden
    Right on 13th
    13th to Pine

    Left on Pine
    Pine to Carlisle
    Crossing Broad Street
Passing the University of the Arts
