Is this true? I hope not. Where did you hear it?

I talk to them almost every day and they said nothing. I know for a fact that they make a decent living out of that place so I really can't see any reason for them to close since they live above the store and there's two generations that can and will take it over in due time.

You talk to them every day and you have heard nothing. How would you feel if you had worked for them and they told you nothing?
The other day my husband went there for breakfast and there was a "closed" sign on the door. He thought it was just for the holiday. This morning he was told by a former employee ( who had no warning) that they were closed for good.

    Who knew?

Well this is indeed bizarre. I just talked to Gus, their son, and grandson on the 2nd or 3rd and they said nothing. They said that the daughter was away in Greece visiting family, we talked about the neighborhood and whatnot, wished each other a good holiday and that was about it. Absolutely nothing about closing-in fact, they were accepting new deliveries that day.

I did just try to call but no answer. I hope nothing is wrong with Gus or anything.

I knew the place was for sale over a year ago, maybe they sold.

Yikes-I certainly hope it doesn't become yet another steven starr place. Rumor keeps happening that the fish town tavern is also selling, but no definite word yet.

If they did abruptly sell, I wonder where the hell they'd move?! It seems so sudden.

I'm afraid its true. Went by today and a giant sign is on the door thanking Fishtowners for their patronage.
Rumor has it someone who runs a lunch truck round Love Park is going to be renting it.

I thought Fishtown Tavern has already sold, renovated and just reopened?

Doesn't Garces have a taco truck up there? Hmmm. Trying to think of food trucks around Love Park...

Did they? They were talking about if the person bought it there was going to be outdoor seating and whatnot-haven't noticed anything yet. Haven't gone in lately because I haven't exactly liked the spill over occurring from Frankford Hall-complete douche bags come over to play pool and look for trouble.

That's called Bro-verflow. One of the bar backs at JB's coined the phrase.

Fishtown Tavern been open since last week, with new paint on the outside and all.
If the locals are still drinking there, the bro-verflow will find def find some trouble.
I'll give odds on how long the first big mouth with a pink shirt and popped collar will last.

That would leave lucky old souls and vernalicious, unless I'm missing some other all around food truck at love park. Verna's so busy that I couldn't imagine that she'd want to also do a restaurant.

I haven't been there myself. I don't know. I can't find anything on the net, unless they're gonna be one of those places with a "FaceBooK" presence. I can't access that from work.
I just know someone who was drinking there last week, but I failed to ask about the food.

When I was last there Bernadette said the new people had all of these big plans of doing a big menu, outdoor seating, etc. When I didn't hear anything, I assumed that the old owners were just sprucing the place up a bit. Yeah-they certainly aren't making themselves known yet. Guess they're quietly getting everything together before they do any promotion

Doesn't Lucky Old Souls have a space in Point Breeze where he is supposed to open a jazz bar some day?

There is also Mini Trini and other trucks there I think, depending on the day.
