They did but it got so bad that the zoning was changed and the towns added different permits that needed to be gotten in order to be able to rent. Glassboro and other towns used to have very big problems with slum lords.

Well now Coyle Jr. is a "real estate broker", and by broker according to his lawsuit he means he's negotiating the delivery of some of his father's houses (same houses in the Federal suit against his father).

That's what his lawsuit against his investors is all about. It's still going on in Federal Court (he's also suing them in NJ).

If you look at Coyle Jr.'s complaint, he actually admits that they threw some money to the City to stop tax Sheriff sales so that Coyle Jr. could get the short sales through:

the amount of money the banks would be willing to take on short sales so that the Defendants could make competitive offers, which only Coyle, Sr. knew; information (prior to the public announcement) regarding pressure from the City of Philadelphia regarding tax sales on Coyle, Sr.’s properties and when those tax sales were being scheduled and why, which enabled Coyle Sr. to file legal actions to delay the tax sales if one of the Defendants’ agreements for properties was at issue
    Absolute scum.
