Hm, Piazza jumped to Old City territory quicker than I thought it would.
Hancock St is a private road? What a god damn hipster doofus that employee is for saying that. But what was the shooter supposed to do, he must have been disrespected? This is Philly after all if you don't have your rep what do you have?
Can we start referring to the Piazza as "The Bucket" yet?
There's some good philly.com comments this morning.
As a kid growing up in Fishtown in the 60's, the other side of front street was referred to as "The Bucket", for bucket of blood. The more things change, the more things stay the same.

And this is why Philadelphia can't have nice things...
I'd like to know more about this altercation. Really does not sound like it was some sort of random incident.
All I can say for certain is the 25 year old victim sure did have a nice new Mercedes according to the photo of it being towed from the scene...
I definitely would have pegged PYT as the place that this would happen at. That place has a really weird vibe.
You people are idiots. 3 shots is hardly a gun battle. The f-tard that died was from Upper Darby. No good comes from Upper Darby, but unfortunately they are allowed to come here from time to time. Sundays are generally quiet, and certainly not "Old City". I don't think this is the first shooting that recently happened in Northern Liberties, and it had nothing to do with the type of establishment or typical customer from PYT. As usual, you make assumptions when 75% of you have never spent any real time in there to know the 'vibe' or people who hang out.

Of course Philly can have nice things. The Piazza just really isn't a "nice thing"....no matter how badly everyone wants it to be.
I would be willing to bet it was not random, as the majority of shootings are not. (Aside from the poor folks who can't get out of the way fast enough.)
Its just another case of too many guns in the hands of too many idiots. I'm sure if you were sitting next to these folks, eating your heart attack on a plate, you could have seen it coming. And quickly removed yourself.
Pay attention out there...we're surrounded by idiots, and they sure seem to love to congregate at the Piazza.
If I didn't live close to the Piazza and only knew about it from reading this thread, I'd think people get murdered there every night.
Exactly. The Piazza has hosted countless concerts, festivals, playoff events, etc. without a problem. A super dead Sunday has two random people meet up, go outside, and shoot? All of a sudden the place is bad news. If any of these people knew anything, they'd know that 99.9% of the people in PYT are more likely to be carrying dungeon and dragon dice rather than a gun.
I think he means it wasn't really two random people getting into a random argument, which turned into gun shots. It was probably people who knew each other, and had some sort of grudge between them.
(slightly off topic)
I don't know what was going on the past few days in the neighborhood, but the *******s certainly seemed to be out and about. I had a few out of line reactions from people over the weekend - like the girl that got really pissed off at my friends and me because none of us had a lighter that she could use. Yes bitch, there's eight of us sitting outside, and NONE of us smoke.
