No, she is Hispanic....and very angry and nasty for whatever reason.
I have met her and have sat in various meetings with her. She is a racist. Her disdain for anyone not African American or Hispanic is palpable. She is not shy about it either. Times have changed. In the past, she was tolerated because her type of development (heavily subsidized) was the only game in town. Now that the city is growing, we cannot sit back and allow entire neighborhoods to be off limits to those who wish to make private investments. Creating permanent pockets of poverty in the city is not going to increase the tax base and get the services the city needs properly funded. Schools, parks, libraries, police, fire protection all need more funding. people like her always have gotten away with the us against them game. We are all in this together. her desire to self segregate and maintain a section of the city as an enclave for the poor is short-sighted and self serving. She really needs to called to task on this. And Councilwoman Sanchez is doing just that. The Councilwoman is demonstrating her desire to represent what is best for her district and the city.
"So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the eighth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of City Hall, and together we shall give them a eighth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.
