    Default Jury Duty Question

My summons states that I may not bring my cellphone. I went on line and read that cell phones are permitted in the criminal justice center.

Last time I served I was able to check my phone and pick it up during the lunch break. I am understandably confused.

I would really appreciate a reply before tomorrow morning. Thanks!

YES you can bring your cell phone.

You may use it in the waiting room on the ground floor but not when the court clerks are giving instructions or when you're filling out the voire dire sheets.

Beyond that, no. It must be kept turned off. Each judge has different rules for how they run their courtroom. The last judge I got made us put all our phones in a Folgers can when we showed up for court every day and didn't get the phones back until testimony was concluded for the day or we break for lunch.

By the way you can get a juror discount at IHOP.

They don't do the check-in thing anymore. The window was closed up last time I went.

IT was easier when 1 out every 5 jury members had a cell phone..now everyone has one....Plus them being $500 iPhones...I can see why this rule changed...

I was just on jury duty in June and didn't get free lunch from RTM.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. At ten AM the entire room was dismissed. A rare but certainly welcome outcome for me.
