Alright, enough of this. Jeese people.
Second guy is still at large (unarmed who helped rob us on the first job). Guy in custody knows him, but 'no snitching' in play here. So... we'll see.
This just in:
Strong-Arm Robbery at 17th and Green, 7:45 This Morning, Thurs. August 16
The police report that this morning a female was walking at 17th and Green at 7:45 AM, and was accosted by a black male, about 5'7", age 20-24, on foot, with a red T-shirt, black boots and a baseball hat, who grabbed her laptop bag and fought with her for it. He ran west on Mt. Vernon to get away. There was no report of a weapon involved.
Unless you have a car, no one should be using public transportation and carrying a laptop.
I don't like to walk in where in this city with something valuable now that people are desperate for anything they can get there hands on. When I go outside I refused to listen to Ipod's, talk on cell phones, and carry a bag that makes it clear it's a laptop inside.
I'm gonna assume this guys just on the windup at this point, surely.
As for the topic in question, I'm a former resident of Fairmount and I do recall such incidents happening on a regular enough basis to gain notice. This is back in 2007, so the whole robbery at gunpoint in the daytime thing isn't new to 2012. I've never heard of the perp being caught though, hopefully his kid brother won't simply step up to the plate.
