Default Blatstein wants to buy off the neighborhood

Beware of a lawyer bearing gifts. Kevin Greenberg from the law firm, Flaster/Greenberg, representing Blatsteinís casino partner, Isle of Capri, formed the North Broad Community Coalition to ensure that there is no opposition to the casino from the neighborhood associations and churches nearby the Provenance. Apparently, the promise of a cut from the slot machines is enough to buy their silence.

I can be bought for the right price. This may not be a popular comment but I am looking forward to a casino at the old Inky building

The article you linked to contradicts the account you're giving in several places. Here's one example: it doesn't sound like a John Grisham novel.

Actually who ever posted this is right about Kevin Greenberg's ties to the gaming industry and Greenberg's law firm representing Bart Blatstein's partner the Isle of Capri! Thank you for posting this, it is a bad deal for the surrounding neighborhoods, but more importantly, the surrounding schools!

Oh, I'm not saying they are wrong..They are just wrong on thinking turning it down will stop the casino. They are only doing this for face value..if they take it or not they don't care, because the state only cares if they offer them funding for projects around the area of the casino.

If they pick that space, the only thing that will stop it is if the funding falls through...

"Apparently, the promise of a cut from the slot machines is enough to buy their silence."

So a business wants to open up and share their profits with the local residents?

    Oh the humanity!

I could see this as being an issue if they plopped this right in the middle of a heavy residential neighborhood. It's not. This is a good thing for the area.

Tell that to the parents whose kids go to school in that very same area, that this is a good thing!

Most likely what will be negotiated will be something like the CBA for Sugarhouse. The association could designate a variety of programs to fund, including the local school.

A casino would be a welcome addition to the area because then there would be a lot of wealthy people in gowns and tuxedos around, just like at Sugar House. I have not been to Sugar House, but I imagine it has well dressed people like I saw in a James Bond movie once because who the hell else could afford to gamble? Not poor people, that's for sure. In conclusion, the word "croupier" does not get used nearly enough in conversation.

This is exactly correct. Some experienced developers have tried to advise residents as such, suggesting that it's better to remain neutral and work with Blatstein than to try pointlessly to oppose. The kamakiri and wetherill types don't listen and think they know better. I don't know how I feel about the casino, but right now it's 2 blocks of nothing that will remain nothing for a very long time, and I don't see that as being a good thing either.

Ok then, explain the specific issues you have with it. So far your posts are full of what appear to be emotion-driven generalities.

Bingo. Dead space like this is the worst thing you can have in the middle of a city.

I probably overstated my case. We should check with Rosa photo and Wulu photo and see how they feel this project impacts them.
