That is unequivocally a Pestronsk victory, in fact what they wanted the whole time.

Now what is probably going to happen: The union leaders told their pub uglies that Pestronsk will be using union for their next project, therefore they think they have won a compromise and keep them off the respective backs of the union leaders and the Pestronsk brothers. When Pestronsk doesn't use union on the next project the Unions are going to contend that they had an agreement that Pestronsk reneged on, therefore creating controversy and trying to smear the Petronsks.

Whats funny is that the civil suits and criminal charges are still going on against union members. Hahaha, how does it feel to face legal trouble and miss out on work/not get the payrate you would like? ILikeBeer can you give us some anecdotes? Any buddies of yours? I bet they are mad.
So essentially every single thing I said was right.

The contractor I work for was there today to bid on this project, he was assured it will be union. The Asain carpenters working on site have signed an agreement with the Carpenters local. Sorry, I have things to do. Will be back to answer any and all comments tonight, and yes the dinner bets are still on, unless I'm banned twice in one day.

So to confirm. The asian non union carpenters are --poof-- magically union carpenters!? Again don't think to hard about it. If your bosses say its so it must be right.

Post Brothers will complete this job with 100% union labor as of today. Sorry if anyone is offended

But you've already lost the bet, because there is non-union labor on the site as we speak, and your bet was as of 9/6/12 it would be 100% union...

I guess the inflated wages are to pay for reality distortion chips that can be implanted in the skulls of union members

After all of the racial slurs and intimidating threats the union goons threw at the Asian laborers, I am surprised that the union would even talk to them in a professional manner, let alone come up with an agreement to actually work with them.

I did not ban you. If I did, you wouldn't have been able to make this post.

Now I see why people call you a liar.

I'm not surprised that the Union would talk to them, if it meant that the Union could claim a pyrrhic victory by dubbing them (and, as a result, the project) "union."

I am surprised that the Asian companies would, however, talk to the unions.

You should get a job as political consultant. The ability to stick to your lies no matter what the actual facts are, is a greatly sought out skill by the politicos. Or are you just a cheapskate who doesn't want to pay up on his bets?

Your side lost, probably because they realized they had to give in as the whole city was turning on them. It was a good day for the city.

Now why don't you and your brethren go protest a building site in Cherry Hill. The commute should be shorter for most.

Plus, there are more of those great all-you-can-eat buffets like "Olde Country" nearby . . . . to ensure dem pants stay nice 'n snug (amiably slap dat ol' belly a coupla times, now, heh heh heh!) despite grueling hours of waiting for delivery trucks to block and drivers to trettin' wit a beatin'.

Ilovebeer, get all the overpaid OT you can now on public projects in Philly, cause in a few years you will probably be displaced by more skilled immigrants who work with less entitled attitude for a fairer price. That ol' gravy train is continuing its slow grind to a halt. Go to bed now, you gotta get up at 4AM to scam da taxpayers some more!

I think ILoveBeer previously held a post as the Iraqi Information Minister.

While I understand that people are enjoying gloating right now, let's try to be good sports about this and not continue the ragging. At the end of the day, we all want Philadelphia to be a world class city with liveable wages and quality skills for our community. I'd like to propose that we wrap up our bashing of Iluvbeer and get to discussing some of the implications of what this mixed labor force means, impact in the Callowhill neighborhood, and progress on the development.

I get your point, but I think so many are just annoyed by the guys refusal to accept the reality of the situation despite all of the evidence. Also, the suspicion that he is just lying and that he continues to defend his position despite how just awful the union's behavior in the matter was. It is infuriating. Plus, a nice 400 dollar meal sounds quite nice.

I would generally be in support of that, however, ILoveBeer/Beer is good is the one that not only pressed the issue, but started the gloating.

The implications are this: the status quo remains, which means that the noose of Union control is finally slipping away from this city's neck. Unions aren't in and of themselves a bad thing, in fact they can be quite necessary at times, but when a cabal of unions attempts to exert control over a labor market utilizing such unscrupulous means, it is very bad, and hurts everyone in the long run.

No, "we" don't all want Phila. to be a world class city with liveable wages for our community. A good number of the union workers come in from the suburbs. They could care less about Phila. What they want is to extract as much money for their overpriced work as they can and retraet to their non-union built homes in NJ and Delco to enjoy it.

Interesting point about the gloating. There was a user by the name of Two Street who also was a union hack and tended to gloat a lot. I don't think this was the same person as Beer, either, but both had a fetish for gloating. One for making $50+ an hour for hanging curtains at the convention center. I'm bringing this up because it shows how cocky the union thugs have become.
If you believe people should work till they die to pay for a government worker to retire at 50, you're a Democrat. Otherwise, you're a Republican. All other differences between the parties are trivial.
