Are we talking about Philly Flavors?
I was in the new space about two weeks ago. I'm sure it's temporary.
I was there Monday. They are still open. They recently expanded into half of the Wine School building. Looks like they are simply doing work on the other side. Dunno if anyone has been there since the renovations, but they expanded their bakery selection and added coffee. Their ice cream is still all coming from the original half, so I assume most of the kitchen is still there.
Yeah I didn't think they'd close that location (lines out the door in the summer). Last I heard those guys were looking at a space in West Philly for a new location.
A week or so ago when it was really warm I saw a longer line than I had ever seen there. I think it was more because they haven't hired their full seasonal staff and were unprepared for such unseasonably warm weather though. Still, they must make a killing at this location. Their wooder ice is top notch, I have to say, and their portion sizes are great.
Real fruit in the wooder ice, ridiculously sized portions. I stopped going to Rita's.
they are open for sure. we have been there a couple of times in the past week. although we only got something there once bc all of the other times the place was packed! while i do love philly flavors, their prices have gone UP!!! if i remember correctly, a kid's gelato was less than $2 before but now it's like $2.65. we also tried a slice of their giant cake and that was like $7. crazy
I've never been a huge Rita's fan. Frankly, their wooder (or is it wudder) ice is part of the reason I've never been a huge fan of wooder ice in general. Philly Flavors converted me when I found real chunks of watermelon. I also love their ice cream. So good all around!
I went on one of the unseasonably warm days, and I was mildly annoyed that they claimed to be closed, even though their posted hours said they would be open. But they served me anyway, and it was a delicious treat! I look forward to another summer of going there.
Sometimes I get their Reese's peanut butter cup sundae and it's a struggle to finish. Usually I finish it only to sit on the couch for the next two hours in pain regretting it, but fondly remembering the eating process.
I may be the only one who thinks PF's ice cream is terrible. It's more like frozen ice milk. Have not had the water ice, although I'm not a big consumer of it to begin with.
You are not alone.
Definitely not alone in regards to the custard and ice cream. It is like frozen flavored skim milk. The water ice is is fine. although I am a quality over quantity guy.
water ice is good not great...milkshakes are good. hard ice cream is inconsistent...soft serve customers dont seem to conplain. given the volume they do youd think it would bring a little competition.
