    Default Fairmount Area

I am thinking of buying a rowhouse in the fairmount area. What areas should I avoid? Any advice? How is the area broadly speaking?

I would walk around the neighborhood to figure out my personal comfort level, but in general Fairmount is: north of Fairmount ave, south of Poplar, west of corinthian, east of ~26th. Areas to the north of poplar and east of Corinthian are in general transition areas to different neighborhoods (north philly and francisville). Francisville feels pretty safe to me, North Philly not so much.

There is also Spring Garden south of Fairmount Ave. - still part of the Fairmount area and zipcode, although not a part of the actual Fairmount neighborhood. It's bordered by Fairmount Ave, Pennsylvania Ave, Spring Garden St, and Broad St. The far north/east side is still a little iffy, but the rest is fine. The houses tend to be a little larger, and it is closer to Center City while still providing a similar neighborhood feel that Fairmount does.
