Default FCA Meeting Reminder

A reminder that the Fairmount Civic Association (FCA) February Monthly Meeting (which was canceled due to the weather) has been rescheduled for tonight, Thursday, March 4th at 7:30 PM with refreshments served from 7-7:30PM. The location continues to be at the Philadelphia Mennonite High School at 860 N. 24th street (between Parrish & Poplar Streets). We have another packed agenda for the February meeting:
  • Guest professional harpist Alisa Coffey.
  • Senator Farnese will visit, share some updates and answer questions.
  • RecycleBank information table and program details
  • Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee information table and program details.
  • National Council on Ceramic Arts will showcase some local pottery and discuss the upcoming Ceramics Convention.

I'd like to put out a call for membership support through volunteering. This year, the FCA needs volunteer committee members and new chairs for three subcommittees. Over the years we've had resident participation come and go. The FCA has been grateful and very lucky to have some long time committed board and committee members. I'd like to extend a thank you for your commitment to the civic association. I hope I can speak for most of the community by extending a special thank you to Lisa Reed who tirelessly planned community events for the FCA for a number of years.

There is always room and now a need for new participants with fresh perspectives and ideas. The past couple years the FCA has kind of had an unexpected break from some of the past activities but we'd like to jump-start community activities again. I'd encourage anyone to let me know if you have an interest in being involved in the following subcommittees. I'll be happy to provide a more detailed background on each group:
  • Activities (needs a chair & participants)
  • Neighborhood Improvement (needs chair & participants)
  • Parking & Transportation (needs a chair & participants)
  • Zoning (needs participant with legal background)
  • Finance, Website & Membership (all benefit from participants)

Finally, the FCA realizes dues are the easiest way for support but if you have a little extra time and aren't sure where to target it how about helping the Fairmount Civic Association out?

It really does "take a village" to make a happy and thriving community. Thank you for your attention and support.

Sheryl Haynes
President, FCA
