Ok - so when I was watching the snow storm coverage, they announced that if your pickup was on Wednesday, then your trash/recycling will be picked up Friday. I figured it wouldn't actually happen on Friday, but we put our trash out on Friday anyway. Saturday and Sunday came and went, and still nothing. Then the holiday yesterday, so who knows when they will pick up? Thankfully our trash is in a neat small spot, but we are going to need to add to it, and have no clue when it will actually get picked up.
Has anyone in Fairmount gotten their trash picked up in the past week? Anyone know when the usual Wednesday pickup will get theirs picked up?
We put our trash/recyclables out as well. Recycling went Friday but the trash did not--nor did any in our vicinity as far as I can tell. Hopefully it will go sometime this week.
Our trash collection was supposed to be today (normally Monday, but yesterday was President's Day), but nothing yet. I can't find any news from the city on where they are on trash pickups, which would really help keep the level of garbage outside to a minimum.
Our trash day was yesterday - but moved to today for the holiday...Trash was picked up in Wissahickon about 9am and the recycling hasn't come yet, which is very typical. I've seen the trash and recycling trucks out all day...so hopefully there making it your direction.

The city did post the snow schedule, but then didn't stick to it. Our Friday Fairmount pick-up was scheduled for Sunday, but everything is still here. The website now has info on the holiday schedule for this week. I'm guess much of Fairmount and Brewerytown will have a missed week.
I also have Friday pickup and everyone's trash is still outside. I called the Sanitation Dept. today and they assured me that it would be picked up either tonight or early tomorrow morning. Something tells me however that tomorrow night when I come home the trash will still be outside.
Corners all over the neighborhood are becoming huge trash piles. It's a disgrace. People put their trash out last Friday because they were told by the city that was when it would be picked up. It's been sitting there for a week now.
I think the problem is that the people who collect the trash also do all the snow plowing. so rather then pay for OT (which i have no problem that the city is trying to save money) they are pushing it off. Didnt streets come around and plow/break up all the ice this week?
I would have no problem with that if they just told us our trash wouldn't be picked up until such and such date, but they told us our trash was going to be picked up last Friday and presumably again yesterday. That hasn't happened, and instead, trash is just piling up on sidewalks throughout the neighborhood.

First my car was blocked in by snow. Now it is blocked in by piles of garbage bags.

Last night I shoveled out a spot for my next door neighbor and myself to put our trash out on the sidewalk(not the street), and shoveled an access path for the sanitation guys. Pain in the arse, but had to be done

EXACTLY!!!! I'm in South Philly and there's been no plowing or trash/recycling pickup. Called the Mayor's office this morning to complain and was transferred to a 311 supervisor...I think Nutter's totally clueless and the streets department is doing whatever they feel like...no rhyme or reason and absolutely no communication with the citizens of the city...
My wife told me she got a recorded phonecall from the city acknowledging the trash issue and asking for patience. When people call us Filthadelphia, I'm starting to have no real comeback.
I think our trash acutally got picked up on Friday last week (regular day was Wednesday). But I noticed the people that usually put their trash in the alleys had piles and PIIILLES of trash out as of Saturday afternoon. I guess the trash trucks couldn't get down those alleys?
I live on 28th, and we haven't had any trash pickup since before the first storm. The supposed pickup days have come and gone numerous times. Bags are starting to split open, recycling bins are tipping over, and on top of that, some of my genius neighbors decided to put their recycling out on top of snow piles in paper bags, so as soon as they're lifted up the bottoms will fall out...way to help the environment by recycling. It is getting pretty nasty in the neighborhood.
