Local Author Night: Gregory Heller Ed Bacon: Planning, Politics, and the Building of Modern Philadelphia

Gregory Heller will be at The Grey Lodge Pub, selling ($40) and sign copies of his new book, Ed Bacon: Planning, Politics, and the Building of Modern Philadelphia.

Edmund Bacon through his work as city planner had a huge impact on the Philadelphia we know today. Bacon impacted every section of the city. Some of the results of Bacon's work were great, some less so.

Besides being famous in his own right, Edmund Bacon was also the father of actor Kevin Bacon. By buying this book, you might bring yourself within one degree of Kevin Bacon. Or maybe not. Either way, this story of Philadelphia's somewhat recent history is a pretty fascinating subject.
Local Author Night: Gregory Heller Ed Bacon: Planning, Politics, and the Building of Modern Philadelphia
03 May 2013

I was thinking of flowers of course, but just wondering if there was some traditional thing which I was not aware of.

Thanks.

Seeds Gallery is pleased to host our 2nd Poetry Open Mic on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 6:30.

More about the exhibit:
Genevieve Coutroubis is a photographer and ethnographer photographer who has been documenting Greece since 1995, capturing the nation’s diversity and beauty as she experiences it. In collaborations with John Karpinski, a loose narrative is created as Karpinski draws directly on photographs by Coutroubis.

Incorporating vintage photographs that Genevieve has collected through her travels, Johanna Marshall created textures in thread, following patterns found in the images and in historical cloth patterns.

Brad Carney's ink and paper works have evolved over the past 10 years with overlapping circular marks, carving various suggestive gestures. The ink drawings developed into a painting series of slathered texture paste and raw plaster, using the motion of the pallet knife in the medium, and the use of color to create light and shadow.
