A spammer put up many signs in S. Phila. last week with "Help Wanted 215-919-6000 Fast Cash." Many were along Passyunk Ave. The spammer left a VM for me telling me that if I wanted to apply for the position I should attend a meeting at Tolentine Community Center on Wed. Feb. 8th at 7 pm, located at 1025 Mifflin St. He identified himself as "Matt Sharer." When his cohort reached me by phone to ask if I was coming to hear about an "opportunity," I said that I and members of the community would be there to complain about his illegal signs. The boss (Sharer) then quickly called, telling me that the meeting was not the time or place to discuss his signs, and that I was "making trouble." He then said "Would you rather see boarded up buildings or signs?" I pointed out that this was a false dilemma, as buildings can be bought and rehabbed using legal means of advertising. He then said that he was doing a lot of good, and that 19146 needed his help. I asked if he was a nonprofit, but of course he's in business to make money. He also trotted out that old standby, "Don't youi have anything better to do than take down signs, what do you gain?" I replied that I gain a nicer looking neighborhood. He claims to be from S.Phila.He said he will ban me from the meeting (although I pointed out that he doesn't know what I look like.)
This guy not only puts up illegal signs, but he misleads people into thinking that he is advertising for an employee position, which I don't think is the case.
ANYONE IN S. PHILA THAT CAN MAKE IT, PLEASE COME TO THE TOLENTINE COMMUNITY CENTER AT 1025 MIFFLIN ST. 19148 AT 7 PM TOMORROW, FEB. 8.
