Default Did you know you can sell your house in 7 seconds????

I counted 20 of these hand made/written signs between On Cottman from Whitaker to Rising Sun ave. I wanted to rip them down. I really would love to call and start counting down.....and at 8 seconds say I am going to sue you...you didnt buy my house in 7 seconds as promised. Its funny I never see these people putting them up...

Why didn't you rip these signs down? They're only an invitation for more absentee landlords, blight, and Section 8 trash in our already troubled neighborhoods.

Is any home owner really going to part with their house for whatever these people pay?

I was in my car with my kids going to a family get together, if they are near my house I pull them down...some of them are too high for me to get, but I try!

I saw them on Harbison Ave, and also Bustleton Ave.

There is NOTHING wrong with tearing down illegal signs.

They are ubiquitous, I've seen them in my neighborhood, in the northeast, in PR, in Fishtown, on Broad, down by the Coast Guard base, everywhere.

Funny you should mention that! One of those "sign creeps" approached a co-worker of mine and offered $30K for my co-worker's mother's house in Logan. My co-worker told him in no uncertain terms to "go to hell!"

I pull them down the second I see them if I can reach them. A friend of mine has a tool to tear down those signs that are too high to reach. I heard from somewhere the sleazeballs who post these signs could face a fine of $75 for each illegal sign posted.

I used to do this for fun. I can recall countless times where needlessly aggressive people would pull over and yell at me for it, usually saying something along the lines of "Are those yours? Then leave them alone!" When I tried to explain that the signs are illegal and that they're eyesores, I would usually be cut-off mid-sentence with "I don't care, they're not yours, so leave them alone!" I stopped doing it when I had some guy actually whip out his cellphone and dial 911 to report my "vandalism". Seeing as the police can't seem to be consistant on what is and isn't illegal (I've heard at least 5 different "laws" regarding carrying a knife), it wouldn't have been worth the risk of calling them on it and waiting for the cops to show. It's really very off-putting when people are willing to go out of their way to stop you from doing it.

I think I even had one guy threaten to kick my ass for it. I mean really, WTF? Idiots.

Also, I haven't seen these signs yet. Feel like sharing the phone number so we can know who is contributing to the blight of this neighborhood?

I do all the time. I wrap them up, put a note on them and put them on Fattah's office steps with a note asking for the illegal advertising to be stopped. Nothing. Never a call. I mean, the phone number is right there!! Just call them.

City could make big bucks fining these scum.

    Found this:

Reprt the sign to CLIP at 215-683-2547. Leave a detailed message of where the sign/s are located. They can be fined per sign.

Study done by the Controllers office in 2007. Seems L&I is not enforcing this with the sudden influx of 'Junk Cars Removed' signs I've been compalining about. So we're paying L&I not to do their job and we're paying for studies that just get ignored as well. I've removed 1000's of these signs and no one has ever bothered me about it.

My friend just ripped down at least 10 of these "I'll Buy Your House in Seven Seconds" in Pine Valley. He called the number on the sign and actually got a real live person. He explained to the "gentleman" the signs were illegal and the guy played dumb. He then got all huffy with my buddy and my buddy replied, "It took less than seven seconds to rip 'em all down!"

In retrospect, I was 15 years old when I went around ripping them down. Perhaps that had something to do with peoples' irrational anger towards my actions.
