Just wanted you guys to know that I filed a complaint with 311 via Report non-emergency issues, receive alerts in your neighborhood - SeeClickFix
Please visit this website and vote to fix it. I have used this website in the past and those affiliated have corrected issues in a timely manner. For some reason, I get a quicker response from those monitoring this website than I do when I call 311 directly.
    See complaint # 90363. Thanks!

I filed a complaint with 311 a month ago and my service ticket # has still not been updated. I call them everyday; L&I, Streets Dept., Etc. I had someone stop by today from the city that may be able to get something moving. There are people that care at city hall it's just there are so many problems and so few employees. More people need to complain and even more to clean up their streets. Saturday at The Convention Center is the block captains 'open house'; I'll be there networking and getting advice on where to get the resources to combat this and other problems.

Thanks Feloniousjoe for being one of those who care! Hope this person who stopped by your house will be effective in resolving this issue. If you have the time, perhaps you can post these resources here so that others have a means to resolve their quality of life issues, too.

The people that have offered to investigate this issue work for the city but not in the department that is supposed to enforce these signs. They do however have the ability to make recommendations to the right people. I will give them the proper honors when they do what they have to do. Until then I owe them the respect of confidentiality. There was a roofing company that just hung up hundreds of the same style signs in the past couple days. Tomorrow and Sunday they all come down as I will be dedicating a weekend to helping some other neighborhoods that got hit worse than mine.

I am in agreement with you Feloniousjoe - give credit when credit is due - I, too, respect confidentiality agreements.
I was referring to the resources acquired from your Block Captain's Convention.

Just returned from the block captains rally at the convention center; disappointed to say the least. Every department was represented and none took responsibility for anything or problem. I didin't stay to see the Mayor because I'm tired of hearing useless talk with no action. Don't get me wrong I like the Mayor; it's just no one in any department follows up. I will continue to call 311 everyday, and I will call every department everyday. Got to see Mayorial Candidate Milton Street; it's sad that some people take him seriously and will actually vote for him.

What kind of tool? The signs in West Philly are corrugated plastic with really thick plastic zip ties. I got a dozen or so down from one intersection with a box cutter and a step stool but it wasn't easy!

I would totally be willing to volunteer to take these signs..it would be alot easier and safer if there were a few of us....one to drive one to cut and one to look out for Nutsy Fagan who wants his sign back!

Sorry to hear the rally was basically a waste of time. Your perseverance will breed success! I hope this is NOT the case with Milton Street. The underbelly of society are the only ones taking this clown seriously. We need a change for the better, not for worse...

Have you tried contacting CLIP? Also, there is someone in the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services who might be able to help you. Our group has contacted him on several occasions with quality of life issues when all else fails. He was quite effective. PM me and I will provide you contact info if interested.

Went throught the neighborhood next to mine and filled 3 bags full of signs plus about 2 dozen big plastic corrugate signs. Amazing that some of these neighborhhods could care less about trash strewn streets and garbage all over their sidewalks; which I'm not about to clean up. Get some pride people and clean up your hood. If your looking for a good tool to take down the big signs; a simple pair of long handled branch loppers will go through thick wire ties, nails, and most other fasteners in seconds.

A tree pruner will easily cut through those ties.

You would have loved the 20 lb rotting beef roast that my neighbors dumped at the curb one trash day...the trash men didnt take it so there it sat......each day getting more and more foul....til I got a shovel to put it in my can.

Yay! Got one from the tool library and went nuts. Got all those Everfresh juice/coke bottle cutouts outside the corner stores too (many of which were tagged). Didn't get any negative comments and one positive.

Nice Annie; I was out Sunday but couldn't get out tonight due to my little one having a cold. Removing these signs is a persistent battle and I enjoy just doing all the walking since I'm slowly getting back in shape. So I'm killing two birds when I go out. It's amazing how nice some of the streets look when all these signs are down. Anyone with time tomorrow may want to hit the area of Roosevelt Blvd and Bustleton near the Boston Market; this area was posted all over those big old trees. Looks horrible and these people should be fined and/or arrested for attaching anything to these trees.

Saw those JUNK CARS stickers plastered again on the trees in the median strip Roosevelt Blvd. around Federick Chevrolet and Roosevelt Blvd & Mascher. I'm assuming the ones in Northwood area were taken down by you, F.Joe. We all could use good neighbors like yourself!

Aramingo is littered with MyPhillyRoofer. It's like someone was standing on top of a minivan that was rolling down the side of the street, the signs are really high up. I guess the neighbors must have fought this battle and the placard people fought back by raising the signs higher.

Frankford in Fishtown has a bunch of the "I'll buy your house, those other guys won't!" signs as well. Same deal; they're up high and nailed in with pretty thick nails that are bent sideways so they're harder to get out.
