For those whose initial exposure to Classical music was via cartoon soundtracks, or the Lenard Bernstein children's series, the Philadelphia Orchestra is in the midst of a 3 day celebration of Leopold Stokowski's leadership. For these 3 days, they return to the Academy of Music in fine form.
Last night's concert was fantastic and emotional. Staging has been tastefullly augmented with lighting and graphic projections, to honor what many Americans think of as the conductor and orchestra made famous by The Mouse. Cheap seats are still available, and a friend claims there is no *%^&** added fee for box office purchases anymore.
