You're not losing sleep, yet while you were whining? You could have been at the barnes. And yes-I did click through the links and there were plenty of member and non-member tickets available. You didn't go because of your own ignorance-not due to a few people who were possibly reselling their legitimate tickets on craigslist.

I'm not trying to whine about the injustice of this, but rather ask if people think it's civil to make even a few measly dollars on something that's not-for-profit anyway. I'm sorry that I've upset you so much. All I'm saying is that, in isolation, it seems pathetic to scalp, and doubly pathetic to scalp free tickets to the art museum. I'm not losing sleep over this, and I'd say this is way less important than probably every other conversation on this forum.

Defensive much? I wasn't directing anything at you, but Gladys drinks a lot so don't take her kindness as sanity.

The Barnes handed out free tickets as a goodwill gesture. If someone took that goodwill gesture and tried to make money off it, shame on them.

Doesn't surprise me some opportunists out there took advantage of the situation.

Gladys had tickets she couldn't use and offered them for free to anyone who wanted them. Now there's a lady for ya !

The free tickets were sold out well in advance. That was only this past weekend.

And? There were still plenty of tickets available. I got a free ticket for being a member and also paid tickets for friends-all within an hour of going. There were also tickets available yesterday while the original poster was whining that they'd pay for tickets.

I'm still waiting to see a single ounce of proof that scalpers were so entrenched in this process of getting free tickets. Hint-scalpers sure as hell don't waste their time on art shows where the average ticket price on craigslist is less than the retail price set by the barnes.

This is all made up sensationalism over sour grapes rather than any sense of reality.

I hereby coin the term "argument creep" to describe this oft used Philadelphia Speaks phenomenon.

    PS
as in "mission creep", NOT "you're a creep".

Good idea. I had started this thread to see if people share my sense of disappointment about scalping in general, and art museum scalping in specific. Thanks for your perspective. I had no idea that I would provoke such a firestorm of nitpicking from the proof police. I can't wait to get to the Barnes soon. I just hope that I don't see loveisnoise there, standing in front of several small children so that he can get a better look at the exhibit.

Stick around long enough and you will see patterns. Good info, insight, and a little fun often can be found here buried in the rubble- It's even helped me develop into a better biker. If you can believe that.

Most people just call it "trolling." In this case, successfully.

You are the exaggerating filth pig!!! Show me one, just one ounce of proof that the free tickets were getting scalped!!! You can't! Why? Because your arrogance and slothful ways has not only made you miss the opening of the Barnes, but it has you lashing out with assumptions and pig dung latin to the level of libel. The only person that should be ashamed is yourself and your mother for test tubing out such self entitlement.

And sticky handed crap mongers like kids should have no place in the barnes except to be melted down for floor wax.

People and cesspools can scream heresy to their desire; the fact is that not a single claim in the original post was proven true, and in fact has been debunked by simple common sense. Filth pigs are in all forms and often hide themselves as a saint rather than the devil. Look at the filth pig's exclamations and outrageous claims before judging the true messenger of peace.

    Well of course.

Barnes felt that way about most people who try to view his collection, which was one reason so few were allowed in. How did this guy get rich making money from an elixir meant to save people's lives when he seemed not to like people very much?

He saved their lives so that his ghost could scalp museum tickets to them.
