    Default Movie: Unstoppable

Pennsylvania man lived the drama that inspired 'Unstoppable' | Philadelphia Inquirer | 11/12/2010

So I went and saw this today. I decided to post a blurb about it because it is the first movie in a long time that I sat through and enjoyed the whole time. I thought they did a very good job of building the story and making the characters seem human without making you say "get on with the story already".

There were several points of suspense that they did a very good job with because I knew what the outcome of each suspense point was going to be, but I was still engrossed to see it play out.

Another point for the writing was that they inserted very short comedic/light moments just enough to periodically lighten the mood a bit and keep it from being too intense from start too finish, but didn't seem cheesy or forced.

Also, there was no crazy CGI or over the top special effects. It was just a solid and simple (in a good way) action/suspense movie that tries to entertain you on the merits of the script and acting - a bit of a rarity now a days I have to say. There was only one scene I thought they could have done without, but it was so minor I didn't care all that much.

I thought it was just a really entertaining movie of a man vs machine story.

I hang out on a couple railroad-related forums and a lot of people, notably some pros, really groaned at the previews of the movie. The real Crazy Eights incident happened due to a series of faults not the least of which was multiple violations by the engineer and only involved a single loco, not "1,000,000 tons of steel". I suppose a movie was inevitable...actually, I'm surprised it took this long. Glad you had a good time though and I think I'll get it when it comes out on Netflix.
If you believe people should work till they die to pay for a government worker to retire at 50, you're a Democrat. Otherwise, you're a Republican. All other differences between the parties are trivial.

Actually, according to the article, it did have cargo attached to it.

But yeah, they only said it was based on a true story and not actual events.

I saw the movie on Friday night with my girl and though it was a bit too short, I must say that I was into the film from start to finish. I pretty much figured that there would be no huge disaster with a high body count, so I just enjoyed the ride from start to finish. Never thought that I'd find a movie about trains so exciting.

The choice was between Unstoppable and For Colored Girls. Didn't feel like being depressed on a Friday night! Next is Harry Potter!
