Now CC is getting its Apple store, what's next on the CC retail wish list?
Seems like for years we've been clamoring for that Apple store and now that we are getting one, what retail establishment is the next "it" project we want for Center City? Is it Target? A movie theater that Center City residents can walk to? We know it probably won't be a Nordstroms (new store in Cherry Hill), but perhaps another department store? Thoughts?
Personally, I'd like to see a Target. While stores like Apple and Nordstroms are a source of pride (like a gentrifying neigborhood feeling validated by the opening of a Starbucks), Target would be so perfect and I think it's a somewhat realistic wish.
Ditto that. Target is what I want. And the return of JC Penney.

Crate and Barrel. A 2nd department store would be nice too. While I wouldn't mind a Target, I find that I usually go to Target to purchase large items that require use of a car, and so I question how often I would frequent a Target in Center City.
4. Crate and Barrel (like their store in Boston, Back Bay).

How about all of Back Bay? Turn the Gallery into something like Copley Place and the Prudential Center and toss in something like Boylston/Newbury Street and I'll be happy. If not, I'll settle for a Target.

That's easy, lets see, all we would have to do is move a Lord and Taylor into 2 floors of the Strawbridge space, replace K-Mart with Saks 5th Avenue, replace Burlington Coat Factory with Neiman-Marcus, then replace 90% of the current tenant mix (and the clientel), and PRESTO !, we have turned The Gallery into the Copely Place/Prudential Center South.
Heck that plan would give us, 2 Legal Seafoods, not to mention a Turner Fisheries (way better than Legal's).
We can then work on converting Chesnut Street into Boylston, and Walnut
into Newbury.

So right you are. And while we're at it, let's don't forget Philly's own version of the Big Dig...
Target would be able to offer that - all of the staple dry goods you need.
So true, not to mention other frozen and even fresh stuff to fill in the gaps. I started doing some shopping in the new food area in the Target on Columbus not long ago and have been really amazed and impressed with the selection.
