Union Protest on Chestnut Street

Anyone know why a union is protesting at an already open Dr Denim on Chestnut Street ? The one guy mumbled something about a home store.

The banner says shame on Ilan Zaken. It is the person who owns 1214 Chestnut. I had to google it because it's totally not clear what they're even protesting.

Oh... He owns Dr.Denim. I remember a story about him a few years ago when when he wanted to turn the old Sears building in Camden into his headquarters. The rumor I was told tonight was that he's going to open a furniture store next to the Dr. Denim store.

Its on the other side on Samson st that most of the construction is happening, but they been building inside the back and upper floors of the building, which is why they are protesting on that side..for the attention since the other side is not as travel(tho that is changing thanks to more stores opening on that side) and not much space to hold a protest.

Im working on a thread separate of this about the rise of Sansom Street, but that will be up Monday, so I'll try and get more details of whats going in that building...

Maybe you need to do some more research.

There isn't ANY retail on the 1400, 1300, 1200, 1100 or 1000 block of Sansom street.

Spoke to someone who came out the back door as I was walking by. It's going to be a " fancy furniture store " that's supposed to open in February or March.

There is commerce and actually there is a florist at the east end of 1200 block. And while not retail, a barbershop sushi, the longer side of a gelato place and a bar are all in that block. It certainly isn't dead.
