Putting the largest mural in America on the PSFS building?

That is the dream:

Sign This Petition and Let’s Put a Mural on the Back of the PSFS Building!! « Streets Dept

As it stands today, Philadelphia has the most public murals in America, but what we don’t have is the largest public mural. No, the largest public mural in America lives in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha – of all places!!

And what a better place for the nation’s largest public mural than on the back of the PSFS Building? Right in the middle of our skyline, and currently painted a boring black, the back of the PSFS Building is the ideal canvas for such a project.

IT is kinda boring back there....

Considering the historic landmark status of the PSFS building as an icon of the International style, it's a sure bet that this isn't going to happen.

i take back what i said before. if it's a giant silhouette of the William Penn statue on City Hall from that one angle where it looks like he's got a boner than I'm all for it.

No...just...no. That'd be like putting a mural on the Chrysler Building or Fallingwater. You don't deface an architectural landmark with as much significance as the PSFS building with a mural just so you can have the biggest mural in the country.

At first glance this would seem to be a truly stupid idea, simply because the PSFS Building is our city's most important building from an architectural perspective.

It also doesn't help that the people proposing this didn't include any renderings.

That said I'm keeping an open mind. Something subtle could be extraordinary, taking a masterpiece and making even it more masterful.
