I wish that it were permanent, though. Then it could possibly be a new Philadelphia landmark. Nonetheless, it seems pretty cool!!!!

Eh, if it were permanent, it would become something along the lines of the S. Broad building facades lighting-- some of it will work, some of the time, and give an overall half-assed appearance from time to time.

Further, if you only do it for a short time, it generates more buzz as a public art form. Similar to the big deal that was made about the orange fabric draped all over Central Park by some artist (I don't remember all the details anymore). Since this is in conjunction with the Philly Live Arts/Fringe Fest and Philly Design Fest, hopefully it gets good coverage in the nation media and due to its short time, brings in tourists and generally creates good buzz for Philly. If it's permanent, it might lose some of that aura after a while anyway...and then, who in this city is going to pay for continued 100% operations?-- resulting in something potentially awkward or embarrassing.

It would mess with the flight patterns of birds too much, I think. There's a reason it's temporary beyond the city being unable to keep anything up and running.

It is neat, but its boring. The lights dont move that much, and they are supposed to modulate with the sound of the speakers voice, but it barely noticeable. I am not that interested in poetry readings, so this only kept my attention for about 30min.

Interesting idea, but doesn't pan out as an artistic experience - all the scale and expense of Christo, but with the random artsy-farstyness of Cage and the visual aesthetic of Albert Speer.

Better than those ugly scaffolding waterfalls in the East River. Not as cool as the orange "gates" in Central Park.

More or less my sentiments. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was underwhelmed. You're right - the connection between voice/sound and them modulation of the lights wasn't really apparent.

It would probably look really cool from from the Belmont plateau, but I have no intention of going up there after dark to find out.

Saw the first night, last night. A few glitches, but ultimately very satisfying.

I was surprised that the lights are visible in the clouds from 23rd and Christian.
