I sat outside at 18th & Walnut having lunch yesterday and saw so many crazy people!. There was also a lady who is so extremely anorexic and well dressed walking by. I've seen her around before-so sad!

There's weirdos walking around center city? No way!!
I most likely walked by you.
Where is Bob Head? He is far and away my favorite.

Yeah, is she the one that wears fur and looks like she's straight out of 1950's Paris?
I don't believe anyone who says it's always been like this. Lived here for decades and it's definitely getting worse. Insane amount of mentally disabled folks everywhere. Lots of really aggressive pan handlers and packs of teen hobos in weird olive green and army boot getups..
I worked at the Borders while it was there and the area is the same as it always has been. The characters might change but they've always been there. It might have been worse as "Cornell", a homeless man who seemed to adopt Borders as his home, used to actually live on the corner of 18th & Walnut for a time.
I've heard her referred to as the 'Rittenhouse Widow' followed by any number of tall tales like...
1. She is a prostitute.
2. She is actually a widow that only got the house and her clothes in a divorce long ago... Which is why her clothes are actually rather worn and her home equally so (no money).
3. She was a former b-list model or something.
Who knows which of the sad tales is true. Most likely none are, but she is pretty well known and recognized! Regardless, it is sad.
