    Default W Hotel

I know this died years ago but on the W website it says they are opening in 2015: Starwood Hotels & Resorts

Has anyone heard anything? Or has this site not been updated?

Probably just not updated. The proposed W site is to be Hilton Home2 instead.

Unless something ridiculous like Blatstein's Inky hotel being a W Hotel is brewing...

I've been to 2 W hotels (San Diego and D.C.) and both managed to capture the personality of the city while maintaining W's high end hard rock styling. I would be very interested in seeing how they handled Philly's character.

Default last tribe of israel guys in the lobby please

I think the lobby of W philly would have to have somebody puking his/her guts out, another person (female) talking loudly in that great Philly accent, another person littering randomly, several drug dealers loitering and those last tribe of israel guys with a loudspeaker, to really capture the philly feel. And maybe somebody from city council or L&I taking some bribes to look the other way too.

They always have a club. NY's is bridge & tunnel with a lean toward the older Sex & the City wannabe crowd.

What the heck is wrong with you??? Anyway, I honestly think that this was recently added to the website because it definitely did not used to be there. Also, the fact that it has a 2015 completion date makes it seem like it was more recently added since the older hotel plan probably would have been built by now had it actually moved forward. I wonder if this new W hotel is the Starwood hotel brand that is going to be on 4th and Race Streets. Either way, I love these hotels and would be ecstatic if one were to be built in Philadelphia.

As it turns out, as it even says so on the website, as well as in a response email to me, the new W Philadelphia is to be opened on 1441 Chestnut St, yes the empty lot behind the Ritz that was supposed to be a Waldorf-Astoria, in January of 2015 with more details to follow. This means that not only will we be getting a new and very nice hotel, but it will have to be built from scratch (hopefully as a highrise) and will be filling in an empty lot. Score for Philadelphia!!!!

W hotels are GREAT! I would love to see one in philly. that's a very classy, modern place. Wonder if they will have a special floor for wilding. Being right across from the wendy's.

I don't understand people like you. Just come on threads to post negative **** about Philly. It's a great city, and more people are figuring that out. Screw you.

I think you meant to reply to ACretin, but instead replied to aro1419. aro1419 posted in response to a very cynical post from ACretin.

I haven't heard anything, but web.archive.org shows it wasn't listed on the page in 2011.

When I go to Chicago, I stay at the W Lakeshore. Great place. Fantastic club. I'm looking forward to the club if they open one here. I think it will be great for the city and if it's anything like Chicago, they will run amazing deals.

I've been there - beautiful place, although the location isn't great if you plan to see the city. Many decent hotels closer to Michigan Ave or The Loop.

I have friends that lived in Wrigleyville and took me to all the places I needed to be. I am actually not that much of a Chicago fan. Won't shop because of the tax, no great old buildings because of the fire and the severity of the seasons leaves me lacking. But I doooo love that hotel. Interestingly they have a Sweat gym in W's. It was a standard terrible hotel gym. I asked at Sweat here in Philly since it is a Philly chain only and apparently the owners struck some deal to use just the name before the prior W deal fell apart.

    But I digress.
