Default so when are the mormons going to go ahead and build that?

i'm more anxious to see this than any other project in the city. have they started at all yet?

what gives? it's not like they don't have the money.

I agree with John Goodman. It's been mentioned in other threads, but most people think they did a good job with the design in terms of trying to fit in with the surrounding architecture. At worst, it is way better than a parking lot.

Count in the "I want to see stuff being done" crowd. The site itself is surrounded by construction already

I can't wait for them to build it so they can involuntarily baptise my dead relatives into Mormon Heaven.

When you are dead, I will hold a Klan rally, or a New Black Panther march, or put your name on a NAMBLA website as a friend of the group.

    They have the best intentions.

    Ask permission.

Mormon temples are beautful buildings. They bring LDS visitors to cities. But, what they do inside is open for ridicule.

Pretty nondescript and low key for them. I'm disappointed. I was hoping to get audited.

I met a member who seemed sane and convinced me to check it out. I was curious so i did. my experience matched exactly what Stan's was until they asked for money. When i said that it's a church and why do you have to pay? After some conversation they asked me if i would watch a video. I was guided into a small "movie theater" where by myself i watched a recruitment vid. At the end the guy on the vid said, i paraphrase. Now you can walk out that door right now, you would be stupid to do it but you could.

I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my chair. It was then I realized i was being watched. Anyway when the movie was over I left, thanked them for their time and didn't look back. I am definitely stupid when it comes to scientology.

If someone had been there with me i coul dnot have laughed as loud. i thought i was by myself, so if you are going to watch someone watching a movie you get what you get. that part was kind of creepy.

If you haven't done it - do. It;s a great experience and at least you have first hand knowledge. Now mind you this was about 15 yrs ago before this southpark vid or i really knew anything about it.

I believe the scientologists also own the former PMC group building at 1314 chestnut street... Unless they sold it or were unable to buy it in the end? There is a site with an extensive list of renovations planned but I've yet to see any activity around the place.

I heard they're waiting until next January so President Romney can be there for the ground breaking.

Really scary! I know someone who's a scientologist but hasn't mentioned it to me-I'm just waiting for the 'talk'. I think they're nuts!

I don't get all the anxiety about the Mormon Temple. Sure, they're judgmental weirdos, but there's a temple right across Vine Street that's home to a bunch of weirdos that have been judging us for an additional 2000 years. It doesn't mean I can't be excited about their architecture. I can't wait to see how this looks in person. It will be a great visual asset to the edge of Center City.

As for the Scientologists, if someone wants to pay for it, they're free to be a moron.

    Obviously it isn't working.

Sounds like somebody has too many Thetans!

I never understood the animosity towards Mormons. They are just high on Joseph Smith.

I like a lot about Mormonism - no drinking, uplifting your community, and strong on family life.
