    Default Why is it that the NYTimes is breaking the Gallery Makeover?(Hint: its Dining)

    Just asking cuz it caught me off guard:

    At the Gallery a long-anticipated overhaul has yet to get under way, although city officials say Preit has presented a plan to make the mall livelier and the stores more accessible to shoppers on the street. To attract new retailers, the company hopes first to woo both fine-dining and fast-casual restaurants to a property that now has only two food courts. “We think food should be the real focus first,” Mr. Coradino said.

    I love to see this plan, which sounds like more food, which I don't think any of us wouldn't feel bad about, and would explain the Starwbridge's future a lot clearer.

    To answer your question:

    The New York Times is a respectable newspaper with an educated readership. The target audience of the Inquirer and Daily News are more concerned with Wing Bowl, Bella Santorum, and how our city council honors the guy from Soul Train that killed himself.

    ITs more that I'm shocked that the NYTimes even cares about the Gallery(And Market East) to even type it.

    Besides I'm sure that the Inquirer knows about it, they just waiting to know more, liek they did with the Staples on Market getting bought by TJMAXX:

    PREIT has a powerful PR machine working for it; this story is most likely a plant by the PR firm.

    Default In Gotham, a newspaper says little

    How exactly is the Grey Lady "breaking" anything ??

    http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/fo...awbridges.html

    This isn't really news story, it's one of those pretentious and patronizing let's-check-in-with-the-provinces pseudo-stories the Times specializes in; let's see how they did:

    Passive voice headline: "In Philadelphia's Market East..." CHECK (actually it might seem curious they didn't say "On Market East" but maybe that's overthinking);

    The glass isn't half-empty anymore, it's half-full statement: "Plans for the area ..., all of which foundered for various reasons. Still, over the last few months, the district’s fortunes have brightened." CHECK;

    Obligatory useless remark from City Hall:“The trigger event for Market East will be the redo of the Gallery,” he ( Alan Greenberger, the city’s deputy mayor for economic development ) said: CHECK.

    P.S. And it's PREIT not Preit (unless they've decided to follow the FT's convention for acronyms)
