It use to be called Nile after hours upstairs down stairs was the the all nite disco 70-80 where lady b started. Before that it was another dance club, it was black and wdas had something to do with it.My how things have changed.Same thing is going on in nyc on Christopher Street.I have been going to nyc a lot to smalls jazz on 10th street I love that place, but the way things are going all these places will be gone soon. 52 street in nyc was at one time called swing street 40's 50's,You could go from club to club and see every one from Ella to Miles to Billie. You would never know it now.The kids from the suburbs grand parents had to flee in the 60's So they are here to change things back lol.White flight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia lol"we were sitting around watching the flyers and having a beer". Lay b was one of the first female rappers.Way before Will Smith and others.I love Smalls in nyc Schedule - Smalls Jazz Club There were many after joints in center city Catcombs was world famous. You would go in there at 2am and not leave till luch time the next day.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catacom...b_Philadelphia

    Daycare dilemma?

Isn't that why they have wives?

As far as I can tell, it doesn't provide actual daycare services. Seems to be one of those places for the kind of person who feels they have to pay money in order for anything to be a worthy experience.

Nest serves a practical purpose for families living in small center city apartments and condos where kids lack adequate "running around" space. Nest provides a large safe space that your child can run around in and have a great deal of fun while there. For kids who are not in daycare where they are around other kids, it also serves to help with socialization skills as they learn to play with other kids and share toys. And, it's convenient and walkable.

It's like the Little Treehouse Cafe in Mt. Airy but I hear, quite a bit more expensive. As a new mom who spends 2 days home during the week alone with my infant daughter, I can see the appeal of getting out and having your babies interact with other babies...as well as communication with other adults for moms and dads. Kids are wonderful but too much time inside can drive you insane.

This is a great alternative for parents that would like to join a play group but can't find one that works with their schedule as well.

I can totally appreciate your complaint about the changes in the neighborhood but you know that nothing is ever static in a city. What was the place like before it became a nightclub and jazz haven? I bet those people were saying, “there goes the hood” when all those changes were going on.

Also, just to keep things in perspective, there are a lot of people in this city saying “there goes the hood” but only after the drug dealers showed up on the block and the corner store was robbed for the 5th time in a month. The daycare isn’t harming anyone, it’s just not something geared toward your interests.

Bye Bye? It hasn't gone anywhere.

Having lived right there at 13th and Chancellor for years. It's got more restaurants and fewer strip clubs, but there has also been a nice drop in drug related crimes which most would argue is an improvement.

unlike the treehouse, it's members only. we met some friends at the treehouse and the kids really enjoyed it. for really young ones, you can see which toys they respond to. for those living in smaller apartments there's definitely an appeal. the classes looked fun as well, which I imagine is some of the appeal as well. for nest, since it's family membership, it's a pretty good deal if you have two kids, a little expensive if you have one.

Haha...wow... surprised they are such a big deal.

I made the awnings and a bunch of light fixtures for that place. Got the fuzzy eyeball from the picketers every time I dropped stuff off.

I would imagine the resource's location is more important than cost...it's not really cost effective to drive to Mt. Airy to go to the other if you don't own a car or even if you go with the cost of gas and well, the cost of time--which I'm realizing is much more costly since having a baby!
