Default Female bicyclist hit at 23rd and Spruce

Biking home from school at about 10:20 pm, I happened upon her and her wrecked bike lying in the intersection at 23rd and Spruce just after police and paramedics had arrived. Seemed like it was a hit and run, though I didn't ask anybody. Anyone have any more information? I hope she will be okay, she looked and sounded like she was in excruciating pain.

If it was a hit and run at least there someone should have seen something... i hope she can recover and is pain free ASAP!

I just don't understand hit and run drivers... the mitigating circumstances would need to be pretty severe for me to do that.

I don't understand them either. People fail to realize that at almost every moment in a city they are under surveillance, whether it be security cameras at private residences, businesses, SEPTA bus cameras, traffic light cameras, etc. Very sad.

Wow, that's a shame. I hope she is ok -and I hope they catch whoever hit her and left the scene.

Know what's sad? I can see some people hitting a person on a bike and not even realizing it:P I don't know how many times I have noticed people riding by me, sometimes even cutting me off to turn....you can tell they don't know I am there

    - sad, but I worry about something like that happening to me, sometimes...especially riding on Del. Ave, some cars ride terribly close to you....I guess they don't realize there IS a bike lane? Or perhaps they don't care....

I'm going to guess he's thinking "girl hit on at 23rd and Spruce". It fits his juvenile manner regarding all things biking.

Some people are just jerks Gladys. I fell off my bike on 11th right near Devils Den and a guy started laughing hysterically until I shot him a look of death. Someone came over to see if I was ok, good thing too, otherwise I was about to walk over and knock the dude upside the head very hard with my U-Lock (adrenaline does weird things to people). I have been told on more than a few occasions that as a bicyclist I should: die, get hit by a car and die, get off the sidewalk or they would push me into traffic where hopefully I would get hit by a car-and die (was riding a half block in the early am with my dog to the vet) I think the general idea is death by car.

As it stands now, in PA, if you are drinking and you hit somebody with your car it's more advantageous to you to flee the scene than stay and help.

The penalties for DUI are more severe than hit-and-run.

I was wondering about that. Drunk drivers and people with drugs or guns in the car would flee without a 2nd thought, I'd imagine.

Yeah, the threats are unnecessary, but if I was that guy I'd be laughing too.
