Just becuase you don't like the Cnvnetion Center doesn't mean all the numbers are bunk.
Smae goes for me, as I hear the equivalent from the bikers all the time.
Truth is most likely in the middle.
Still, there's now THOUSANDS of people here in the icty that wouldn't have been without these conventions.
that's correct, it doesn't mean it's so, but they are suspect. I never disagreed with your opposition to taking numbers are face value from the bicycle coalition. It's not just the source that stinks, but the numbers they float here are dubious. the pcc was doing over $2bn in business BEFORE the expansion so crediting the expansion with $2 out of $3 bn seems suspect...probably not a lie, but most likely based on a small sample size...perhaps so chosen to boost the numbers. one could argue that using the money for shorter trips to ny would also bring thousands to the city that wouldn't be here...that's not an analysis.

What exactly are they privatizing? The fact that the unions were on board for this makes me kind of wary...

. It should be noted that our competitors such as Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Toronto, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Richmond are all privately managed."

According to a more coherent commentator, the unions have previously backed privatization plans during their initial stages so that later when they freak out they can say "we supported this and you guys did XYZ that made the plan untenable for the working man" and pretend like they actually negotiated. I doubt they have any real interest in that unless this is a Doc ploy to steer management to a union approved shell company or something. I'm speculating, obviously.
