Default Dog Poop on Parrish Street

A majority of the dog poop is on the 2600 Block of Parrish Street. Someone is bagging their dog poop and leaving it littered in neat piles along Parrish Street. I am assuming it's the same person as the bags are mostly all black or blue. Further down Parrish Street right before the Brewery condos, there is always poop on the sidewalk.

Please start picking up your dog poop or keep an eye out for these repeat offenders. This is pure laziness.

I've seen this too, and it drives me nuts! If you're going to go through the trouble to bag it, you might as well complete the job and put it in a proper receptacle in stead of just leaving it on the sidewalk. You're not doing anyone a favor bagging it an leaving it (except for yourself, because you're a lazy slob).

yes, I've seen them too, and wondered if they are the same filthbeasts who left a nasty mattress in that same area out on the street for weeks.

I am thinking of creating a sign for the lightpole on that block that says "Do not leave bags of dog waste here, you pig. We are watching you." Thoughts?

Are they leaving the bags in neat piles outside their own house/apartment? I feel like I see that a lot and don't really understand why one would do it. No trash can out back and they don't want to put it in their kitchen trash can maybe?

They are not in piles in the corner of a homeowner's stoop. Just between Taney and 27th Street, there are 5 different piles-in tree beds, between tree roots, next to a fence, sitting just beneath the light pole, etc. They are scattered all around the block.

On my street we had a situation that made even less sense. For many months, there was a growing pile of dog poop bags at the base of a garbage can. So these folks went through the trouble of bagging it, presumably carried it over to the garbage can, but just couldn't seem to take that extra step of opening the garbage can and throwing the bag in.

i hope you're not offended by both mine and my next door neighbor's temporary use the area between our stairs and houses to store one maybe two, up to four poop bags when our dogs go somewhere between the closest public receptacle and the front door. i don't use a trash can. i barely fill a trash bag up a quarter of the way on a weekly basis and there is NO way i am tossing the crap of three dogs in my kitchen trash on the rare occasions they don't go at the park. you can't compost or recycle dog waste, so there's my excuse.

i'm more offended by the sh*theads who think it's ok to let their dogs poo around my tree and not pick it up whatsoever.

btw, we don't live on parrish.

Temporary is measured in minutes, not hours or days, which has been my observation.
It is a health code violation, just like those who do not pick-up.
Seriously, buy a good metal trashcan or flush it down the toilet.

    Exactly.

If you can't find a trashbin outside, flush it or get yourself a diaper genie and put it out with the trash. Do you think parents should just throw their kids' dirty diapers on the street too, because there's no nice way to keep it inside? That is disgusting.

The corner of 28th and Parrish seems to be under assault -- and it's not confined to bags. It's often left at the foot of the stairs to my building or right in front of the mailboxes. It seems strategic and it's been happening for over a year. I don't know how to catch the culprit but I'm considering installing a webcam and then posting links to the pictures on here so we can all see which of our neighbors are being so inconsiderate. But if you see someone dump and dash, please remind them to clean up. Thanks.

I live on 29th near Cambridge. The west side of 29th between Poplar and Cambridge was under assualt from a pooch and ****ty dog owner(s) for a while, but it seems to have stopped temporarily. One person living on the block next to the new thrift store left piles of bagged **** next to their front door and could be barely bothered to disposed of it on trash day.

It boggles my mind that grown ass people can be so disrespectful to neighbors. If you can't clean up after your dog, you shouldn't own one.

maybe they changed their route because the south side of the 2900 block of poplar has been hit hard recently.

Someone left a lovely little bag of dog crap in front of my house on the 2500 block of Brown a week or two ago. I wonder if it's the same person.

This morning, there were bags on Stillman below Parrish, 30th, north of Poplar and in the 2900 block of Harper. This is getting ridiculous, may be a conspiracy. I will share this with the 9th & 23/22nd police districts. This is a rampant health issue, not just litter.

    Default dogwalkers

There seems to be poop everywhere. Really disgusting since my toddler loves to walk on the sidewalk. Last year I saw a 'professional' dogwalker on the 2800 blk of Poplar not pick up poop--gave me the impression that he never picks up. (He wasn't a local dogwalker btw.) If you hire someone to walk your dog, tell them to pick up and dispose properly!

There were a crapton (pun intended) of little poop bags on 26th between Parrish and Brown this morning. Just completely disgusting.

Hey guys, I wrote this piece today for my column about city services called the City Howl Help Desk. It focuses more on the dog poop issue in Fairmount, but also talks about how the city can't do that much and neither can neighbors. You can try calling 311 and reporting it to Animal Control, or you can try getting a sign from your Council person that says $300 ticket if you don't pick up after your dog. But getting a trash can for your block seems to be more trouble than its worth.

Just wanted to report that the poop has "moved" now to 28th between Parrish and Poplar -- both sides of the street. About a month ago, we were seeing this same routine on Parrish between 28th and 29th. No one in our area has a description yet on this person and this poop is unbagged.

    Default dog poop bags

I personally think that using biodegradable dog poop bags can help the enviroment. I usually buy my dog poop bags from Poop Bags | Dog Poop Bags | Dog Waste Bags | AMERICA's #1 since they have lots of colors and are biodegradable. Please pickup after your dog.

I'm pretty sure I just had a run in with this guy... A little too late. A white guy in his 20's with kind of wild dark hair walking a black dog. This was on stillman, between Parrish and poplar. . He asks me the phillies score, and we shoot the breeze about the phillies. After he's gone, his dog has left a nice pile right there. Just a few days ago, the same guy left a pile in front of my neighbor, who called him out. Only after the fact did I realize what was going on. Keep your eyes peeled....... Ream that dude out! He has absolutely no intention of picking up after his dog
