Hey,

Sorry to step into the room with a request, but it's for a non-profit, so I hope this is okay.

Starting next week, I'm (oh, and if you don't know me, I'm Hayden Mitman, Staff Writer over at the Star and Northeast Times newspapers, and formerly the Home News) going to be teaching a free writing class for teenagers at Mighty Writers, a local non-profit group.
We still have room for students, so anyone interested, we'd love to have a few more kids in class.
We will be talking comics, polishing up stories and, of course, writing.
At the end, they'll have their own story to take home and might see their story published in an upcoming collection of student work.
Details below.

A popular saying for writers is “write tight.” No matter what story you want to tell, tighter, leaner writing can help you focus your ideas, sharpen your plot and define your characters. In this class, you’ll learn how to get your comic book ideas down on paper, cut the fat and polish your story into a real gem. By the end of the class, you’ll have created your own short story that you can be proud of.
