Saw all that along with the ambulance for the guy on Myrtlewood...exciting afternoon around here. One of the break-ins happened after the owners left for the afternoon. Seems they perps were waiting for them to leave. They punched in the window air conditioner to get in.

What happened to the guy on Myrtlewood st?

My friend who owns the house next door to me had his tools taked from the back of the house through the alley . Neighbor called the police 5 times and they never came . He called the cops when he got home and was told the police came ,knocked on the front door and didnt notice anything so they left . My neighbors said the boys were black teenagers that live on 29th st between girard and thompson and they had a guy in his 20"s as a look out

if they know what the kids look like and know where they live, its prolly a good idea to get that information to the police right? hate to play Doctor Obvious, but come on.

Hmmm, did they access through that back lot on 30th between Poplar & Cambridge or are there alleys running behind those houses?

CIty Maps, impacted homes are on the South Side. Merchin's old lot on 30th was chained and being gardened by neighbors who look out for this stuff.

They don't want to become target them selfs . They did the right thing by calling the cop . It was the cops that didnt respond correctly .

contrary to what culture tells you, snitching is the RIGHT thing to do!

Cops need the support of the community.

I have noticed those kids hanging around Lee's Kitchen more in the past few days, and otherwise circling around the block. Can we have year-round school now, please?

Thanks for the clarification. So, the statement that there were also break-ins on "30th between poplar and girard" (from RJJ) was incorrect?

That same guy came and was "checking doors" all along 29th. He rattled mine, rattled the doors of a few cars, and my neighboors. Called the police on him. Report from cop..."Oh we know this guy." No idea if arrest was made.

I don't know. But it was unrelated to the robberies, but just made for a simultaneous visit.

I do know that another house (on Poplar, next to the one that was robbed) had it's back door jimmied in an attempt to get in.

Someone traveled through my backyard the night of 6/15, breaking my neighbors fence on their way in or out. We are on the 2900 block of Girard on the North side. Nothing was taken-- but then, we have nothing of value in our backyard. We had a bike stolen a year and a half ago so we learned our lesson. My guess was that someone was cutting through the alley and couldn't get past the overgrowth behind our houses, so they jumped the fence and cut through our yards. There's that empty lot on 29th, near Sara's Place, that gives easy access to the back alley. I hate the idea of peeking our through my back window and seeing someone out there...

As a computer security consultant, I sometimes work with colleagues in physical security, such as locksmiths and physical security design consultants. Their biggest recommendation is shoring up the security of the door frame to stop doors from getting kicked in. The point of failure tends to be the door frame, which is usually weak wood. There's several solutions out there which use steel and deeper screws to secure the frame.

    Here's a couple I've seen:

Door Frame Reinforcement Strike Master II Pro keeps your door from being kicked in.
Simply the best Door Security and Jamb Repair Products. Security Doors, Door Reinforcement
    http://www.doorsecuritypro.com

I also have an alarm system as another measure, but hope that the door security can stop an issue from even happening.

Do the alleys behind these houses not have locked gates at the ends of them? Or did the burglars just climb over those?
